Paia means “wall” in the Hawaiian language. Paia Retain is software developed by practicing licensed structural engineers in U.S. to design cantilever concrete walls based on AASHTO LRFD and IBC design codes. Paia Retain calculates soil active pressure based on Coulomb method and Equivalent Fluid Pressure method. Paia Retain calculates seismic loads based on Mononobe- Okabeh (M-O) Method and Trail Wedge Method. The user may use an Unformed Distributed Load for seismic load calculation. A detailed step by step calculations print out as well as a summary of the calculation is generated after a wall design. AutoCAD drawing of the designed wall and material quantity are other outputs of the program.
